PT-200 Valve Spring Tester

The PT-200 Valve Spring Tester is one of the most successful high performance testing products ever made as it has been used in the vast majority of championship winning engine programs in NASCAR Cup and NHRA Pro Stock racing over the past 15 years.

The primary advantage of the PT-200 is that in less than 5 minutes of your time, you can go from a brand new set of valve springs to a table print out that shows exactly what installed heights you need for each spring to closely meet your desired seat pressures, along with all the other important measurements for your springs.

With your camshaft information, the PT-200 also shows you how much open pressure you have on each valve spring, and importantly shows you how much coil bind clearance you have so you can make sure that you meet the manufacturer's recommended coil bind clearance specification for that valve spring.

The reason the PT-200 can do this so quickly is that it fully automates the measuring process. All you need to do is enter your desired seat pressure and then smoothly compress each spring. Since the computer automates the measuring process, unlike a manual tester you don't have to be trying to hit a specific pressure or installed height. Just smoothly compress the spring and the PT-200 will automatically find the installed height and pressure, open height and pressure and also measures the coil bind clearance for each spring.

Since all your spring measurements are stored on the PC for you, it makes it really easy when rebuilding the cylinder head to compare the used springs to their original measurements. This shows you how well the springs worked in this application, whether you can re-use them, and if so how much to shim the springs. If the springs are too worn to be re-used, you can print out the spring measurements to show your customer that the springs are too worn to make the required seat pressure. This helps build trust with the customer and makes them feel better about having to replace them.

Unlike most of the "manual" style spring testers available from other companies, the PT-200 is constructed up to critical NASCAR standards using the best industrial testing components available. The load cell in the PT-200 has an NTEP certified accuracy of 0.1% error and is designed for millions of cycles. The system is extremely reliable and systems have been in heavy use at companies like Comp Cams, Isky Cams and K-Motion for over 10  years with zero failures.

PC Requirements

The PT-200 comes with the test frame, cables, complete manual and software and is fully calibrated and ready to plug on to any PC desktop or laptop running Windows XP, Vista, 2000, NT and 98.

System connects via USB port for easy installation.

Power adapter supplied with system requires 120 Vac. European 220 Vac adapters are available upon request. Battery only adapters are also available for full mobile use.
